Sexual Violence Issues
DID YOU KNOW?
At Beaumont we have a fully trained ISVA – Independent Sexual Violence Advisor.
An ISVA is completely independent of the police, the legal system and related agencies. Their only focus is you.
Talking about sexual violence whether recent or historic can be very difficult – our ISVA will be there for you to help you with that process.
What you do with a disclosure is entirely up to you – our ISVA could not and would not insist that you took your disclosure any further than you yourself decide to.
Whatever decision you make our ISVA will be there to support you and will ensure that support continues every step of the way.

What our ISVA can do for you
Explain all your options about reporting a disclosure or not.
Signpost you to and put you in touch with professional help in your own home area.
Stand by you – by ensuring that if you do choose to go forward suitable ISVA support will be there for you throughout the process. That can include help getting to and from interviews, attending Court with you, liaising with the police and other agencies.
Advocating for your rights – including help with Criminal Injuries Compensation, Complaints and Appeals processes if required.
At Beaumont you will be seen, heard, believed and helped.
An ISVA operates under a Code of Confidentiality:

The Code of Confidentiality
Information you share with us will be held in strictest confidence and in accordance with the Data Protection Act (2018).
We will explain to you the very limited exceptional circumstances when confidential information would have to be shared, for example, if you or somebody else is at risk of significant harm such as a Safeguarding issue involving a young person or a vulnerable adult or where there is a legal requirement to report in the case of certain serious criminal offences. In those exceptional circumstances, we will ask for your consent before disclosing any information if that is at all possible.
