Dinner Party

I am no Delia Smith but I enjoy cooking. It used to be baking when the kids lived at home but once they left baking was bad for my waist line! I have always cooked for myself since I lost my wife and avoided living on takeaways.
Since joining Beaumont I have made several friends so finally got the chance to invite them round for an evening meal. It wasn’t exactly as I originally dreamt, I had four guests, Samantha and her wife and Lynne and her wife, Wendy our fashion editor. Main course, Hairy Bikers Ultimate Fish Pie. A very successful evening, I even got a critique of my entire wardrobe from both wives.
At the beginning of this month I managed to talk them all into another dinner party. Now three of us are country folk and two are townies. The main course was a Poacher’s Pie. It was renamed a Lincolnshire Pie with various comments about its content, including Squirrel and Fox! No squirrels or foxes were harmed in the making but but pheasant, partridge, pigeon, rabbit and chicken were involved. It was all eaten but I think the pigeon caused the most concern, evidently tasted liver?
I hope to hold other evenings but stick to less adventurous ingredients. I think Lynne wants to get her own back with something Italian.
