I got my left ear pierced 3 years ago when I was in my early sixties and then my right one a year later, after that I added a second piercing in the right ear. The first was done at a Claires shop, the second at a local piercing shop and the third was DIY with a single use piercing tool bought very cheaply off Ebay. I've had no problems with any of them and if I were doing them again, I'd go for the cheapest option.

I try to wear earrings at least once a week, depending on what company I'm in and what I'm doing. If I take them out the holes are visible but only just.

I was expecting lots of negative comments, but no one has commented apart from my wife who thinks they look great and make me look a little less conventional and traditional.

I'm glad that I took the step of having them done after several years thinking about it and wearing clip-ons
