The NHS Constitution has been updated this week (a 10 yearly review); included in the changes are proposals for patients to be placed in wards based on their biological gender and not how they choose to identify. Transwomen will not be placed on female wards and transmen will not be placed on male wards. Instead, the guidance is for transgender people to be placed in single rooms.
