Helpful information for those on public transport.
61016 is the text number to report an incident when travelling by train & most other rail type services. It reports direct to British Transport Police 24/7.
It is now a free text if you are on one of the 4 major networks, O2, EE, Vodafone & 3. BTP are still working on getting the piggy back operators e.g. Lyca, GiffGaff, to extend it to free.
Another method for those with a more up to date handset is an app called Railway Guardian. Also monitored 24/7 by BTP.
These mean you can report without speaking & thus not overheard.
